Please read case study MYSPACE and answer question (a) and (b).
a) Redundancy - when job ceases to exist, or company cannot afford to employ a worker.
Dismissal - termination of a worker's employment due to incompetence or a breach of contract.
b) MySpace faces unpredictable times due to a decline in business, therefore future workforce planning can be unpredictable too. To make the company lighter and adjustable for future scenarios, while retaining its core staff, MySpace can hire part-time employees (with finite contracts) or peripheral services to carry on the non-essential tasks. Redundancies might be a reality for MySpace in the mid-term, but by having a flexible structure, the company is prepared to deal with them appropriately.
